The ability to upvote/downvote: So many people ask for this function and somehow it's still not a thing. One would think it would be easy enough to whip up, compared to some of the far-out extensions that exist and work.

Or am I wrong and there is such a thing that snuck past my attention?

As long as I can remember users have wanted this feature.
The closest you get is the Thanks for posts extension - installed here
Or Steves Reactions extension. You might be able to edit the templates to achieve it
