I think it should be seperate, or maybe even drop it - the index thing.
The way described here is easier in the long run: viewtopic.php?f=22&p=3277#p3270
and I think it is better we use that in the original 3 in 1 SEO we planned earlier.

Sure we can leave its written tho so seems a waste its done for index page now only.but your way will explain to others how to put it on a custom page so all drop it. and try and finish some other stuffs.
