Learn how to have your own bot visiting your forum.
You can call it what ever you like and it will appear almost allways in the Who is online stats.

Demo: This board.

Instructions:
You need to create a cronjob for this. The easiest way is to use cronjob.de which is free. Its in german language but it is easy to use even if you dont understand german.
They also offer other services such as Servermonitoring and Back-link checking.

Part One
When an account is created, we need to create the cronjob.
Login and click the Cronjob tab in the top menu:

Now click the "Neuen Cronjob erstellen" tab:

First box: Type a name for the bot
Second box: Type in the URL of your board
Click: "Cronjob alle 5 Minuten"
Make sure that it says "Aktiviert" in the selectbox.
Click: Cronjob speichern

Part Two
Create the Bot in ACP -> SYSTEM -> Spiders/Robots
Scroll down to the bottom and click the "Add bot" button.

Bot name: Name it, ours is named BBCode [Bot]
Bot style: Choose the same style as all the other bots
Bot language: Choose the same language as all the other bots
Bot active: Yes
Agent match: Nothing is nessecary here
Bot IP address: 212.227.101.211,87.106.69.47
And hit the submit button.

About the IP addresses, I am not sure if they can change so you have to watch the online info to check if they are right.
But this has not been nessecary as long as I have used this.

Congratulations! You now have your own Forum Bot 8-)

Thats 2 different things.
This bot cant do anything else than visit your forum

BBCode Bot is an ordinary user with login and everything.
When I have posted a new topic I just change author and make bbcode bot as author.

Just a comment in relation to this great tip. Not sure if things have changed since the first post but you now have to create a "cronjob_53804.html" file & upload it to your root folder...then verify it's there via the cronjob.de site.

Just add cronjob.de to the body of the cronjob_53804.html 8-)

In house joke...called it Nikki [Bot] ....any idea how long before "she" visits?

The IP can be different from the one I use.
Take a look at viewonline displaying guests. Then you will find this: Cronjob.de
Im not sure that it will work as agent match, but you can see the IP used and copy it to your bot.
