Download NV Recent topics mod.
Take a look at the Addons folder, you will find it in the contrib folder.

thnaks stoker, i installed it. but instead of creating a new block and seeing that i don't use that mod for my index page, i put the edit in portal.php and made the block for the portal.. looks cool..

Hello, i'm Italian sorry for my English. I installed the mod "simple portal" on my board (3.0.7PL1) and having edited and uploaded all the files is a white screen appears on the home and the ACP. You can make compatible this mod with the latest version of phpbb? Thanks, sorry to disturb, but the italian support is slow and inefficient.

this mod is compatible with the latest version! and you shouldn't get a white screen anywhere since no files where edited!

it's strange that it changed all the files well, I also found that it changed the language file in UTF-8 WITHOUT BOM ... ok means try again to edit files ... if it does not work yet I am attaching files that have changed ... thanks:)

which files did you edit? if you leave the files intact from this mod and upload them, the only file you should edit, would probably be the overall_header.html file to add the link to the portal. And all the language files should be encoded UTF-8 without BOM, make sure you use a good text editor if you edit any of them!

Thanks for help, I changed all files with notepad + + and now the mod works just fine ... must have been some problems in rescue sharepointdesigner... I edited the files for fewer than 2 times and I always gave the same error ... but everything now works perfectly thanks for support!
