Error pages not working since on linux server also i only have the 1 .htaccess file in root

here is the .htaccess can you see why ?

No can see. Odd though. I'm hosted on Linux server (the only way to go IMHO)...
How long have you been on this server? Some time it takes hours for .htaccess to come into affect but it's rare. I've had 5-10 minute delays max.

I disabled some of my items..eg;

Options -Indexes
#<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
#RewriteEngine on
#RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization},L]

i'l wait till the morning and if its still the same then i'l comment out some bits

Are you sure this is correct?
It will only work if the path to your forum is: www.domain.com/forum/

The below code locks all directory's up nice
