Welcome on Index on 3.0.12 - and behavior on Chrome.

Post by Anuj Dhawan »

Hi,

I've been using this MOD happily and it works great on my Forum. However, this morning I saw a very different behavior when I brought up the site using chrome. It looks like this:
WOI.jpg
that is no welcome box...

Though it works well on IE and with this I doubt that it has got something to do with the MOD but could not figure out why would that happen on chrome. Could not check on Firefox yet so ca't speak for that.

In case needed, board URL is: http://www.ibm-mainframes.com

Please advise if you can see some pointers.

Should work in all browsers.
But I dont see it when visiting your site. I see the artodia style. Is that on purpose for guests?

Thanks for the prompt reply, Stoker.

I'm not sure why do you see artodia - it should have been with name "prosilvermarch" - prosilver with a different color.

Second thought - Did you bring the site up using a mobile device? If yes, artodia is default.

Another thought - is the bot "AhrefsBot [Bot]" a bad one? I ask this because after "deactivating" this I saw the welcome box back! Strange!

Now I see the correct style. Works fine on your site in both FF, IE and Chrome

No, its just a bot. Your problem have to be something else, maybe one or more of your mods. You do have quite a lot ;)

Possibly - I read about that bot on the net and not much in favor.

I could not figure out the problem -- as in IT they say, "can't recreate the issue" - "so issue is resolved" becomes a never ending question...:)

I think this is because of this Bot - deactivating it make things work well, activating it shows unpredictable results. Have anyone of you have experience with it? If no - beware, is what I'd like to say.

Deactivating a bot does nothing at all. The bot system only have control over the bot permissions.
When you deactivate a bot, it will just have guest access instead of bot access.
Ask on phpbb.com when they are up again. Maybe some of them have heard of the problem before.

I agree with you. I'm also waiting for them to come up.
