I would like to now how to add a description area under the subject area when creating a topic.
Also I would like to place my portal @ www.musicmixdjs.co.uk instead of my current homepage.

Cheers but I want the portal to be on www.musicmixdjs.co.uk not www.musicmixdjs.co.uk/mixforum.

its not possible to display only the portal like that, unless your move all your forum files to that part on your server for example:
from
public_html/mixforum/portal.php
to
public_html/portal.php
and then change the script path in admin control panel,about the only way it can be done with out another database and bridging them 2 together.
